2月16日 Valentine’s Day Weekend
Well I know I haven’t been posting much and I have once again been neglecting people and loosing track of who is doing what and why. I haven’t been on the computer in a couple days deciding I just need a small break from the tagging and never-ending status updates. On Friday we had a wedding reception to go to at the Shark’s Club in Waterford for friends of ours, Mike and Casey. After being together for nearly five years, they finally decided to make it legal and got hitched. I was under-dressed as I thought the celebration was going to be in the main entertainment area with all the pool tables and such. I never knew the Shark’s Club even had this reception area off to the right once you walk in. Anyway here is a picture of the newlyweds. Sorry for the poor image quality, as we didn’t bring our digital camera and relied only on cell phone cameras. They decided to get married on Friday the 13th because they went out on their first date on Friday the 13th. Strange to some but not if you know these two. They also have a son named Damian. No, they are not satan worshipers or anything, they just both like the strange and unusual. Personally, I think it’s interesting … not many people would dare get married on a notorious day like Friday the 13th. Anyway, we chatted for a while and I stayed back to talk to Tony (Ken’s son) for a while when Ken and Wendy went out to play some pool in the main room. It was Wendy’s birthday too which made it really strange, once you start adding all these things up. (Wendy is someone Ken works with.) She seemed to have a good time and we ended up leaving at around 11:30PM. Then comes Saturday, Valentine’s Day. I had feel asleep in the recliner and Ken put a blanket over me because he didn’t want to wake me up. Funny thing is I forgot to take my evening meds the night before and my brain was a mess because of that when I woke up at 6:00AM Saturday morning. We loafed around the house for a bit and then decided to go shopping. So we left and headed down to Oakland Mall and then to Ferndale/Royal Oak area. We had Valentines Day dinner at Como’s located at 9 Mile and Woodward and we both really enjoyed the food. I had pizza and Ken had Chicken something ‘err other. It was a nice Valentine’s Day, at least we got to some time together but away from the house for a bit. Yesterday, we paid Justin to shovel the driveway and my brother came over later and needed to get the paint color from inside the trunk. I never thought they would put that kind of info in there – I thought they always had it in the VIN for each car, alas, all I know is that he had the new hood and is ordering the paint. Isn’t that great news, fast progress too. I didn’t think he’d be at this point already, but then my brother never ceases to amaze me. My baby is well on it’s way to being fixed. Well, at least the wheels are in motion that is. :) I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day weekend! :) 1月2日 Holiday Wrap Up
Well Hello and I hope everyone had a good New Years Day, after some celebrating on New Years Eve. For the eve, Ken and I stayed home and watched the various countdown shows on television and stayed with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin on CNN – I’m over Dick Clark and besides watching the antics of Kathy giving Anderson a hard time was pretty fun, I don’t think Anderson really knew what he was in for when he signed on for the project with Kathy. At any rate it was all in good fun. For New Years Day we woke up and worked on Jerry’s computer some more and getting it all updated and such. Then at 3:00PM we went to a neighbors who invited us over for dinner and Al and Barb were great hosts and the food was delicious! Boy can Barb put on a spread, I couldn’t eat too much as my tummy was on the warpath with me so I did what I could. We had the football game on but we played Domino’s with Al and Barb and I won the first round and then the second totally sucked. I had so many points that I didn’t bother counting them all. Then I lost interest, my brain just didn’t feel like functioning and my tummy was giving me it’s usual grief so I went and laid on the couch and watched them all (Al, Barb and Ken) play one last game before stopping. I hope I wasn’t a party pooper because I had to leave and get home to get medicated, I’m sure they understand … I know Ken wasn’t surprised as he deals with me and everything that entails on a regular basis. I have been having problems getting to know the new setup here on Live Spaces. I can check the blog comments via my cell phone and MSN Mobile but run into problems when I try to go to my blog manually. I’m trying to add as many people as possible to my Live Messenger that I can but that will take time. It’s actually easier to use my phone right now than it is to use my desktop computer, weird huh. I realize I’ve been out of touch with many of you but I am working on a solution – I greatly appreciate your patience. :) Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!! :) 12月27日 What A Holiday!!!
Wow, what a week it’s been since I last posted. To start we have been getting storm system after storm system before and during the Christmas rush which I learned all too well how little some people know about driving on snow and ice covered roads. Come on people, unless you’re driving on “May Pops” (bald tires) then you can drive faster than 20 miles per hour on a treated road. The parking lots were another matter entirely, I spun the Jeep around a couple times in parking lots. But the main roads were treated but where mainly just covered in a heavy layer of snow. Then again, I learned how to manage a car on bad roads while driving in the upper peninsula during the winter – If you can survive that, the stuff we get down here is child’s play in comparison. Christmas Eve: Ken and I both did our shopping the day or two before Christmas Eve and I spent the day before getting someone to come shovel out the drive and deck, while making my mom’s potato salad. Yes I will put the recipe up at some point. On Christmas Eve we went to Ken’s mom’s house for dinner and exchanging of gifts. All went well but I was on high-alert because Ken’s mom isn’t a drinker but when I got there she was rummaging through the kitchen and getting on ladders and asking me if I’d like a drink. I’m thinking, no I am driving unless I get smashed then I’ll just ride home with Ken and leave the Jeep. (I wasn’t driving the Cadillac in a snow storm) So there we go check the closet for liquor and nope, no vodka. Ahhh well, maybe next time. I knew we had some at the house but didn’t know how badly Ken’s mom wanted a cocktail so we just let it go. The dinner was great!!! A lot of work split between several people, mainly just Ken, myself and Ken’s mom doing all the work. We all sat and visited and I headed home around 10:30PM and headed home. Ken was home after he dropped off his grandmother at her apartment in Waterford. Oh, and we did exchange presents too – I knew what I was getting, I just had to wait to enjoy it. Clinique’s skin care line for men. Got some cash and some Isotoner gloves to boot also, so I did pretty well this year. Christmas Day: We just lounged around the house for hours and then Ken headed over to his mom’s for a late dinner and more visiting. I wanted to relax and stay home and try and recover from the stress before and during Christmas so I gave a gift to myself by just staying home and watching the tube. I didn’t even get online like I thought I would. All in all, it was a wonderful day. Last night was mine and Ken’s 20th anniversary together. I mentioned a week or two ago about going out and then since it wasn’t brought up again by Ken or myself, Ken thought that was the plan. I really wasn’t up to going out last night but Ken did stop when he was out earlier and picked up some Asti and some Grey Goose Vodka for me as the last was used for Ken’s mom for Christmas day. She had a couple Sea Breeze’s (vodka, cranberry and orange juices). He said she really seemed to like them! Oh boy, what have we started here. I was going to make some Jello shots for Ken’s Dungeons & Dragons game today but thought nah, I’m not giving away newly purchased Grey Goose on Jello … so it’s safely in the kitchen cabinet. I drank some with just ice and cranberry before the Asti last night and it all made me tired and wishing to go to bed. I’m not a real drinker since I’ve been on the Fentanyl patch, especially since that was increased from 50mg to 75mg and my break-through pain killer went from Darvocet to Turbo Charged Loratab’s. Better living through chemistry. :-) We have no New Years plans yet – but we usually go out the night before and celebrate with a nice dinner and maybe the club afterwards. I guess time will tell about that and what we do. Besides the crazy people on the roads doing all their last-minute Christmas stuff and the horrid weather we made it through the holiday pretty well considering. I wished I felt more like going out on our anniversary but I know where to go when my stomach settles down some, and Ken LOVES their prime rib, so I know where we will go to eat when our schedules match up again. :-) Longhorn at Great Lakes Crossing! I will try to post again before New Years, but in case I don’t hear from you, Please have a SAFE yet FESTIVE New Years Eve!!! Hugs to everyone!!! :-) 12月14日 My Weekend As I Know It
Let me say this, a fair amount of headache and I think I’d still relive it. Last night we went to a Christmas Party of Ben & Alainia and we had a good time mingling and partying. We got home about 1:00AM and boy were we tired. It was fun talking with everyone and I’m really glad we went. Alainis’s mom, Madonna set us home with an anniversary present! I was mortified that someone actually caught on with the cards I sent out. The glasses are BEAUTIFUL!!! Today, I woke up late and most of the morning had slipped me by. Ken went and played Dungeons & Dragon’s with the crew so he’s been gone most of the day. Clutzy me dropped my NEW Samsung Glyde into a glass of water …Now I’m seriously MORTIFIED!!! I called Verizon and had then switch my number to one of my old phones, my Motorola RAZR. I should have a replacement Gyde early this week. Now I’m going to go make myself something to eat before I strangle myself!!! :P 12月7日 Sorta In The Christmas Spirit
Well I hope in my absence that everyone is getting along well. It’s the holidays and there are shoppers everywhere trying to find deals and get their Christmas cards out in the post before it gets to close to Christmas. I know a couple people who wait until Christmas Eve to send out their cards, they sure have a lot of faith in the postal service! I finally sat down for several hours and did my cards and got them all mailed – I don’t think I forgot anyone. I should go through my rolodex one more time to make sure. My family and I don’t really exchange presents and haven’t for years so I just have to mainly concentrate on Ken, Tony and Ken’s mom and sister. Most of the time we pick them out together but since Ken has been a hard one to nail down to go shopping with and NOT make it an adventure, he LOVES shopping just a little too much … He comes by it honestly from his mom. We don’t have a tree up and the poinsettia I got from Bordines took a dump and died when I watered it. Apparently, it doesn’t like water – at least not this one anyway. It’s all shriveled up and sitting on the table waiting to be tossed out. I’m not taking it back for a refund because one I don’t feel like trying to find the receipt and I don’t want to deal with having another credit with them. Oh well, it was gorgeous while it lasted. I have a couple projects for the house this coming week. We also need to find someone to clear our driveway and quick, we already have snow on it for the stuff we got yesterday and are expecting more to come this week. We found out who did our driveway the last time, it was a combination of Al and Joe – our neighbors. What saints they are for doing it. :-) May you all find a prime parking spot and the mall or do it online and sit for the next few weeks waiting for the UPS or FedEx to come to the house. If I get more than one tracking number to follow, I tend to confuse myself so I try to make it easy as possible. Have a SUPER week everyone!!! 11月29日 Thanksgiving Holiday
Well now where should I start. It’s been an eventful week as I was running back and forth to my brothers to take care of his Rott and running errands before Thanksgiving and we were down one car as my Cadillac was in the shop getting my windshield replaced as I picked up a rock on Walton last Saturday night. Finally on Wednesday morning I got the car back and went to tan and then hit Kroger for last minute items. We also went to Gordon’s and picked up odds and ends for turkey day and a couple things his Mom asked us to get while there. Ken spent the evening and most of the night preparing cheese cake, fruit salad, etc. I mean he went to Papa Joes and got the best fruit he could get his hands on and spent a fortune in the process. Thursday he marinated the turkey and put it in the rotisserie where he cooked it for about an hour and forty-five minutes. I made green bean casserole and deviled eggs, big contribution on my part huh. Ken takes all the credit this year for all the hard work he did!!! So once everything was ready we loaded up all the food and headed to Ken’s moms house. Tony (Ken’s son) actually made an appearance, it was good he decided to show, we all were having our doubts – figuring he would probably just sleep the day away without any regard to his family. Later, he came here to the house and us three just watched TV and talked. Dave, my brother, got in last night. He drove straight through from Newport News, VA where my sister and her family lives. My eldest brother, Mike, the estranged one even made an appearance. So at least I know where most my family was during Thanksgiving. It’s tough not seeing them for the holidays. But I’ve grown used to it by now. I still have some shopping to do, but doesn’t everyone!!! Last night Casey, Mike and their son Damien stopped over for pizza and to visit, we all had a good time. It’s amazing to see Damien up and talking and carrying conversations. Shoot, I remember when he was just a blond blob sitting in his seat. :P I hope everyone had a GREAT Thanksgiving!!! PS – Apparently, I was the butt of a joke in that I look like an “oompah-loompah” in my new profile picture. Not real nice to make me the source of jokes and such when I’m not there to defend myself at all. To say I’m disappointed would put it mildly. 3月17日 Happy Saint Patrick's Day
I wanted to take moment to say "Happy Saint Patrick's Day"!!! Be save and have fun everyone!!! Let's see what have I done today in general: - Woke up at 8:30 and slept until about 9:00. - Had some apple cinnamon oatmeal try couldn't stand it and had some yogart. - Browsed online for a bit. - Went to Kroger and picked odd's and ends and stuff for dinner. - Wrote out all the upcoming checks for the bills, too much fun for this lonely soul. - Came home and maid dinner, spaghetti - yumm! - Hooked S10 to battery charger, apparently 2 days was too long in letting it sit. - Watching Law & Order waiting for Ken to come home. The end...Until Ken got home that is, then I stopped taking notes. PS - Later thought, the spaghetti turned out great! No green beer, just a Stewarts Orange Cream soda, thank you very much. YUM! 4月7日 Happy EasterSpring is supposed to be blessing most of the United States with imerging blubs and blossoms from the fruit trees and that isn't the case in Michigan. We had a brief stint of warm weather that was more a tease than anything else so I wait patiently for the grayish brown to turn into a explosion of color we've not seen in months. Could be worse - I could be in the upper peninsula of Michigan where they had a blizzard this week so I won't be bitching too loudly. *deep sigh*
As of this moment I haven't any Easter plans, although we will probably have some sort of dinner here but that means that we need to hit our local Kroger and pick up some grub - you can't cook it if you don't have it in your ice box or freezer. Anyway, it should prove to be Easter at any rate.
The depression is still gripping tight and doesn't want to let go. I have battled this before so many times I just wish there was a magic pill to take it all away. I have given up trying to quit smoking at least for the time being. It's been two hard on three trials with the Chantix without success. The medicine caused nausea and really didn't sway me away from my nicotine addiction. I had hopes for it as it was well thought of by my personal physician, he won't be pleased ... but then he's not the one trying to quit. The diagnosis of emphysema doesn't help matters, as every day I smoke it makes it worse.
I keep promising to blog more and that doesn't seem to be working either. I enjoy reading others blogs, but when it comes to my own I have difficulty in thoughts streaming onto the page. Bloggers block I guess. I miss a lot of bloggers who just disappeared without much warning so I know I'm not the only one teeter-taughtering with posting blogs in a timely manner. I know, shame on me. 3月17日 Happy Saint Patricks DayJust a note to wish all the Irish a happy Saint Patricks Day!!! Party hard, but please party safe. :)
I haven't been active with my blog mainly due to a lingering depression that I've been fighting for some time now. It's all par for the course with bipolar disorder but for some reason it doesn't want to let me loose from it's grasp. Yes, I take my meds but as we all know meds don't always work the way we hope. I'm still working on quiting smoking - nasty habit and I hate it ... damn nicotine addiction. That's the primary reason for my lack of posting and answering comments in addition to visiting other blogs, I just haven't been spending a lot of time online so my recreational reading has taken a blow, I'm not intentionally ignoring anyone or please don't think it's because I don't care - I do, my brain on the other hand has just been mush and it's been hard to get anything done.
I'm looking forward to Spring and warmer weather. We don't have any travel plans this Spring except for maybe going to Paradise, MI for a visit with my aunt and uncle. We have to wait for the weather to break up there as we have traveled up there in snow storms and hated every mile of the trip so we'll wait till the snow is gone for sure up there.
Not much else to report other than Michelle and Armando were married this week - CONGRATS to the happy couple. I wish you eons of happy times and lots of love your way. ;) 9月28日 Birthday Thanks!!!I wanted to say thank you very much to all those who wished me a Happy Birthday, I can't express totally in words how it makes me feel that there are so many kind and thoughtful people out there!!! Also I spoke with a dear friend, my beloved niece and Tony (Ken's son) and got a few cards in the mail in addition to Ken buying me a 300Gig external hard drive to back up all my programs and genealogy stuff so I don't have to worry so much about loosing all my stuff in case my slave drive takes a dump or something. :)
And also, there are more people than just me having birthdays lately, it seems many of us were happy new year babies or something with so many people having their birthdays so close together.
On the personal front, things are going a bit better as some of you might have read in my other blog. I'm now taking Marinol which actually is synthetic THC, the primary chemical in marijuana. And believe it or not it's actually legal, was as shocked that my psychiatrist scripted me this medication to stimulate my appetite and hopefully gain some weight. I'm now at 131 pounds, but I'd like to be at a more healthy 180 or so. Due to serious issues with my stomach, it's been a battle to eat and not throw up every time. Of course I've had to adjust to being stoned after taking it, but it helps with the nausea and vomiting in a tremendous way - it's been a God-send. I'm surprised my gastro doctor or personal physican hadn't thought of it sooner. It's even covered by my prescription insurance too, NOT BAD huh! To say the least, it's become interesting medicine treating me for my stomach issues and some clever routes are being taken to get me back on track. The battle has a new weapon and I couldn't be more happy about it. It's not the getting stoned part I enjoy, but the munchies that come with it. It has made eating a totally different experience and my nausea, vomiting and complete loss of appetite now has a formatable weapon being used against it.
I couldn't be more happy about starting to turn the tables on some of my problems.
PS - And no, I didn't take a Marinol tablet before this post ... in other words, it's just stoner rambling! I have to be very careful as Marinol is an addictive medication - of which I've dealth with in the past and have to deal with regularly because of the other heavy narcotic pain medications I'm currently on as well.
Here is a photo of my cake, it's fabulous --- grainy frosty and the works. Isn't it cute!!! 9月1日 Happy Labor Day Weekend!Just a quick note to wish everyone a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.
Let's see, my plans are ... well ... nothing at all. We aren't even going to Paradise this holiday. Besides my nifty new Windows Messenger bag I got, I also purchased a new 19 inch LCD flat screen monitor for my desktop computer! I am amazed at the real estate I have gained in the process. I have SO MUCH more room than before and I'm loving it! My old CRT 19 inch will be used probably by Ken or just stored in the catch all room.
Happy Labor Day everyone!!! |
