Progress!!!

Well, I think it’s been long enough without posting. As some of you know I have been posting to Facebook and sometimes Twitter but that’s really about it. I don’t have an application for my phone for Live Spaces or else I probably would have been posting. Sorry if you feel I deserted anyone, it wasn’t my intent. It’s just there really wasn’t much to post about.

My Mono is all but gone as far as symptoms with is great news for me! I still get the tiredness and fatigue but that is known to linger long after you have the primary symptoms. Adult Mono is no fun and I hope none of you have to deal with it. I’ve been spending time playing on the computer and doing things around the house, so I haven’t been having too much fun in my absence. Ken has shown no signs as yet of Mono, I’m hoping it stays that way. But then his immune system is stronger than mine.

Tony, Ken’s son came over last night and fixed our driveway light – damn is it ever bright. Plus he got on the roof and tarred a couple areas that needed it. I told Tony that, “Ya know, your grandmother puts Ken to work every time he goes over so don’t feel too bad”. Yes, we fed him for his troubles which really weren’t any big deal.

I see the pain specialist tomorrow and a neurologist that specializes in polyneuropathy on Saturday, I’m not used to having doctor appointments during the weekend, but I am curious of what she may or may not come up with. Wish me luck.

Never Trust A Manual

For the most part it’s been a hum-drum week all in all. Basically, it’s consisted of car repair and several trips to the auto parts store and doctors appointments. Sure I’ve had worse weeks so I’m not complaining at all.

With the Cadillac I thought my side marker and plate lights were working when they weren’t. All but one side light needed to replace, easy fix. I HAD to fix the turn signal flasher that’s buried under the steering column and the OEM manual that we paid a lot of money for was worthless because in the diagrams they had the hazard flasher module and turn signal module transposed and I couldn’t figure out why when I replaced the turn signal flasher wasn’t working after replacing it. Trust me, you never what to drive a car that doesn’t have working turn signals. I hate it when someone doesn’t signal and I became one of those people, ARGH. So I contacted our mechanic, Fred, and he quickly diagnosed the problem, so I quickly ran the the auto parts store to get a new turn signal flasher. Presto, I had turn signals once again. It a was a lot of headaches for a $10.00 part. Silly me trusted the manual as fact when in reality, Fred said, “You can never trust these diagrams in the manuals”. That’s no shit. We still haven’t figured out the issue with the plate light, but will get it fixed soon as it’s a ticketable offense not to have working plate lights.

Yesterday morning I went to see my gastroenterologist at the new medical building here in Clarkston. I had seen him and talked with him and made it home by a little after 9:00AM EST and that was even after stopping by the pharmacy and getting a ton of my meds refilled. Can’t beat that with a stick! :)

I stayed home last night and listened to the storms move over head and it was kinda cool because we had the air going, still do infact and I just laid in bed and listened to the thunder and the hail and rain pummel the house outside. I don’t have anything major planned this weekend, today I am dragging ass and cannot get motivated but I did want to at least check in.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!!  :)

In The Past Week

Well it’s been a bit since I posted a regular blog post and I thought I would catch everyone up on what’s been going on around here.

Last Friday, ABC News with Charles Gibson nominated their person of the week as the Class of 2009. In the snipets they broadcast was a quick sound byte of from MUSC, “Cheryl **** Peters”. I was in the chair and Ken was walking into the bedroom when they announced his sisters full name! Needless to say we were both shocked!!! Couldn’t have picked a better person among the others to be announced as persons of the week. Ken immediately called his sister and she didn’t see, damn … of all times not to be watching the news.

Ken went to the doctor and the doc immediately put him back on disability because his knee isn’t doing so hot. So he won’t return to work AT LEAST until July. Then he got a call from someone in his department that the Stand by status has changed in the factory he’s in and they are looking to have the plant closed in 60 days and have already started to ship out die’s. Not good. Everything remains a mystery, the only ones who actually know what’s going on is the upper management and GM. His future there is questionable at the very least.

A couple days ago my uncle Richard went into a diabetic coma – his sugar dropped to 20. Not good. At least there was someone there at the house the called 911 and they responded quickly. My uncle came too with five firemen and paramedics standing over him. He’s doing better now but his sugar needs to be monitored very closely.

I need to send a shout out to Sue Mac for her birthday!!! Happy Birthday Sue!!! Also, Ken’s mom had her birthday on the third and we went out to dinner and were all stuffed by the time we were done. So happy birthday to all you folks that I missed. :)

I was out running errands yesterday and my aunt called and talked to Ken to have him let me know that my cousins husband had passed away. It really wasn’t that unexpected, sad, but not a shock. He’s had problems for years with his heart and I’m sure he out-lived all the doctors predictions. I really feel for Janie, his wife.

I went to my primary doctor yesterday and we couldn’t get the ball rolling on finding out exactly what’s going on with my bone marrow because he didn’t have my chart. Great huh. He was less than thrilled to put it mildly. So we set up another appointment for next Thursday and we will discuss it then, hopefully I chart won’t be at the old building at that time. Cross your fingers.

With everything that has been going on, I have just been taking it one day at a time. That’s all any of us can do really. Don’t ya think.

Have a wonderful day!!!  :)

Wow, A Week Already!

It’s been a while since I last posted. Sorry about the interruption. I am just trying to stay normal as best I can. The news from the neurologist is the polyneuropathy, After more blood and a couple doctors there, I also have hypogammagobulinemina (is a type of immune disorder charecterized by a reduction all all types of gamma goblins) … so you can imagine I'm thinking all sorts of things. It’s not HIV, that was non-reactive meaning no. The hematologist/oncologist thinks it’s all probably related to a larger cause. The hypo gamma stuff appears secondary to a lot of diseases. Yesterday I went for a skelatol/body imaging with the X-RAY and he also took some blood and I’m supposed to schedule a bone marrow biopsy as well. You mean there might actually be a reason my body seems to be falling apart? Thank you all for reading, I really needed to get all that out. Now can you see why I’ve been distant. I hope so. :)

Not much of anything else has been going on. Ken’s work is going through a lot of stress right now. Understandably so.

Last weekend was pretty nice. Ken and I had company on Friday and Saturday night – difference people. Basically it was Tony, Sami Jo, and Wendy. It was good to spend time with friends, I personally really needed the distraction for a while. I have some laundry waiting that I think I will start on tomorrow, I realize Computer Surroundings Day is either here or gone, but I will try to get my desktop online. I need to get a letter out to an older friend. It’s been a while since we’ve talked and we just need to touch base. Thank heaven tomorrow is Friday. I am SO READY for the weekend.

Boy. Did I ever need to get that out of my system. Thanks for reading as always.

I personally LOVE this song, I can be seen seat dancing while driving down the road. I have it on my Microsoft Zune too. I'm sure you iPod owners can get it too.

HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY!!! Please be safe but have fun for all you Irish folks. I don't have a lot of Irish blood in me but it's still a fun holiday. :)

Beyond Hump Day

Well it’s almost Friday, thank heaven for that. I have been keeping to myself the full results of the MRI scan to myself and one other person online and Ken knows too. Although the MRI was negative for anything with pathology, there was noted a “Incidental note of a ‘mega cisterna magna’” noted on the results. I have the films and even I can see what the radiologist was seeing. Because I have progressive symptoms like frequent headaches, dizziness, double vision and poor balance, my personal physician is deferring the rest to a neurologist. So I made an appointment with Dr. Glass’s office for next Thursday so a doctor there could make a judgment based on the CT, MRI and the results of each. What is really cool is the way I have the CT scan. It’s placed on a CD and you can click the image and go out and in, it’s REALLY cool to play with. It’s like “Look Ken, it’s my brain on drugs”. I’m not too worried because my personal physician doesn’t seem too concerned but he would like to see my symptoms go away, as we both would. Enough of that, that’s why I haven’t posted lately. Enough of that frustrating stuff.

This is even more frustrating. Our DirecTV HD-DVR box went on the fritz! It was fine yesterday before I went to the dentist then Ken and I returned home at he same time. (I blew past him on Walton Blvd. just to be a wise-ass. Then he finally saw me, I told him I had a dentist but being who he is, he forgot and was wondering what I was out doing. Anyway, we come home and the TV is telling us there is a problem with the hard drive, format to continue and reboot. Well half the night we had satellite for about half the night and last night it just went out while I was watching “Nightline”. So I said, “Piss on this noise, I’m going to bed”. Then when Ken was up this morning he unplugged the box and TV from the wall, I plugged it back in and presto, we had picture. Now I not going to shut it off until we have to because it seems every time it’s shut off, it’s screws up again. In the meantime DirecTV is sending us a new box. Setting that up should prove fun, NOT!

Well I am installing new security software to all the computers in the house, doesn’t that sound interesting? Nah, I didn’t think so. I hope your day is more exciting than mine. Time for the tanning salon and the post office. I haven’t a clue what to make for dinner – maybe we’ll go out tonight.

Well I need to scoot – I’m way behind on my “homework”, mostly from Facebook. Michelle and Chuck know what I’m talking about. I can get to Michelle’s tag pretty soon, Chuck’s might take me some time as we have to find 25 Random Things about ourselves. I get a lot of random thoughts but this one I really need to sit down with some paper with. So no tags for a while, I’m buried as it is. :)

I wish everyone a wonderful day!  :)

It’s A Wednesday.

Well it’s Wednesday and is freaking cold has as hell outside and it’s still warmer than it’s suppose to be tomorrow and Friday! I broke out the “arctic” coat – I don’t wear leather jackets to keep me warm when it’s below zero for crying out loud! ::chuckle::

I sure some of you have been wondering what the heck is next with my blog! Rightfully so … and I have an answer as to why it was flipping out and modules going everywhere. There was a blog post that I noticed was broken up and my previous entries from were tossed into a single column on the left side of the page, and they were tinted with the theme so it was hard to read and all tossed into my left side. That’s when I tried to fix it to no avail. I had started to look at the problem in a whole new way. The blog post didn’t look right, the comments and post information was stuck on the bottom of my page! So I’m cursing under my breathe and sometimes aLOUD, I realized I needed to get the post the hell out of there, it was screwing up my blog big time! Once rid of it all my problems ran away! So I wasn’t to blame like I first thought, something like “smooth move buddy” and other ramblings which I can’t express here. At least I finally figured out what was causing the problem. It was a issue somewhere with Live Writer, the latest build. Argh, I hate this type of hassle, then again I stress too much already. :P

My errands are done and all I need to do now is cook dinner. I think Ken might be going out later I’m not sure. All the menial tasks have been done but I need to send off a few emails and check Windows Live Spaces later! :)

Stay warm everyone!!!

Touching Base, Mid-Week

The past couple days I’ve been off in left field somewhere and feeling like crap. First I thought I was cycling (for those who don’t know I am bipolar) because I had a couple days prior that were VERY productive and I thought maybe I just crashed real hard. Until last night I was trying to relax in the recliner and I started running a fever and sweating. This wasn’t depression as I first thought, it’s most likely a bug I picked up somewhere. I feel a little better today but not up to snuff quite yet. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out if I’m having a drastic mood swing or a fricken bug – live and learn I guess.

Some of you noted that I have a mature audience notice on my blog title. This is because after very careful consideration that I would start to blog about topics that are current and things that are on my mind that I don’t usually talk about and that the blog will reflect that in it’s content. It’s not meant for little ones but more an adult audience. I’m trying NOT to exclude anyone I just thought it should be known that this site is now a more adult oriented and I’m not going to apologize for it’s content. People can read it if they choose or not – it’s everyone’s decision really. No it’s not going to be full of cursing and porn; although the Man Candy album is meant for some men and women who like to have their eyes given a show. I will not publish nudes, so if that’s what you’re looking for this isn’t the site. The men don’t have an album because what does a gay male in his early forties know what a straight man likes when it comes to women. Exactly. So for now it’s just the man candy. :)

I’m trying hard to keep up with everyone and added a ton of people who were not in my network to my network so we could keep better track of one another. I will keep my Facebook account for now as there are a couple people who are there and I like to keep in touch with. If you need to locate me there, simply send me a private message and I will give you search criteria to look for when searching for me. I will leave my Live Space open to the public for now baring any problems – at some point I will set it only to include my network and their friends.

I think I’m going to make a roast tonight – should be good! Please drop me a note and let me know how you all are doing!!! :)

Always with love and peace!

Pardon My Dust

Pardon my dust everyone, I am in the middle of redoing several items on my blog and there will be blog content changes as well. For now, I will leave the permissions to “Public” and not exclude anyone even the passer-bys online. At some point in the future, I will probably change the permissions to include network connections and their connections, you know what I mean.

From here on out this will be and should be considered an adult oriented site. No, I won’t be posting porn or cursing left and right but it should be noted so that the children that shouldn’t see the site should probably stay out. I have tossed and turned about keeping Facebook and I think I will for a while but Live Spaces will be my primary focus. I have configured it so I can check my blog via mobile device so when the computer isn’t on I can read and respond to posts or private messages. Man is that ever a convenient feature now that it is up and running.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and I wish you all my best for the coming week. :)

This & That

Wow, the past several days have been mind-bending to say the least. I have been doing a lot of thinking about things and realized how I could handle things better – despite myself. I have heard from friends that I haven’t heard from in years and that has been rewarding too. So I’ll be getting some letters off in the mail so that we can reconnect and catch up on things in our lives. Personal experience, never assume things and accept responsibility for your actions. That goes all your relationships, both family and friends. These days it’s so easy to loose touch and before you know it years have gone by and you sit and wonder why you didn’t do this or that. If you love someone, TELL THEM SO!!!

Today I prepared for our winter storm that is brewing west of us. I stopped and picked up ingredients for my Mom’s delicious potato salad for Christmas dinner at Ken’s Mom’s house. I also picked up fresh stuff for cookies I plan to send to my uncle on Monday. I figure that if I make them when Ken is at his Dungeons and Dragons game that I should be set to send them Monday via UPS. They usually get the packages next day, so I certainly don’t want to make them on a Friday let’s say and then send them so they can sit around getting stale over the weekend in some storage place. Also, I ordered my extended battery for my new phone – you know, the one I dumped into a full glass of water! Well I had an extended battery in that and it fried when it was drowned. Thankfully, my 2Gig memory card was fine and didn’t suffer any permanent damage so I didn’t have to replace that too. I must say, I am very pleased how fast I was able to get a replacement phone and extended battery, all in the same week from Verizon. I’ve been very happy with them since I signed my first contract way back when.

I’m still thinking about what I need to touch base on for Christmas dinner with Ken’s mom. We need to get together on the phone and organize who’s doing and bringing what.

Time to get cracking on dinner – I’m getting hungry and Ken just called to say he was on his way home.

I hope everyone has a great evening!!!   :)

Pre-Holiday Chatter

Well TGIF everyone!!! I can’t be happier enough that it’s Friday and that I was able to get some things done. I dropped Ken off at Motor City Muscle to pick up the Yukon with the rebuilt motor and take care of final details of the deal. I will post pictures and spec’s for all you car nuts out there so you can see what he has now. To say that he’s excited would be a grand understatement.

I was able to oil the hinges and locks on the Cadillac and Jeep. I had a “slight” problem with the LockEase I used, or should I say attempted to use to oil the locks to head off freeze ups with our cold weather. I inserted the little straw that’s provided into the whole and when I sprayed it came spraying out where the nozzle fits into the can and went spraying on me, my face, my right eye and all over my ski jacket – not that I ski. Needless to say it went all over and trying to fix it didn’t help so I put it in a bag, and tossed it into the trash. After tanning today I stopped by ACO and got some WD40 as Shelly recommended. I thought we had some here but couldn’t find it so I just bought a fresh can. So all is good on that aspect. I can’t wait to drive the Yukon, especially now that it has a new beefed up engine!

I was also able to use de-icer to thaw out the shed locks and get into the shed and retrieve the Christmas lights and tree. It took a lot of de-icer but those locks were pretty frozen up with ice and I plucked out the white poinsettia (fake) and the fiber optic tree that I saved from the last cleaning of the shed. I have the tree up and already had a wreath on the door so I didn’t need the artificial one I had in the shed. I still need to go out and pick up gift bags and tissue paper for the presents this year. With the exception of what’s being sent to Ken’s sister, I won’t be wrapping this year. I hate wrapping and so I’m taking the less messy way out by using the gift bags.

Not much else worth noting has been going on. I did however today get a Christmas card from Australia, which made my day. You know who you are. :)

I will try and touch base with everyone this weekend. I realize I’ve been neglecting a lot of people lately, as usual. Please don’t take it personal – it’s certainly not meant to me. :)

New Week, Fresh Attitude!

Well it’s a new week and time for a fresh outlook on what appears is going to be a crazy week. Let’s all hope I can keep it together and post more positive posts instead of ranting because I have no outlet!

This past weekend was a typical weekend except I wasn’t able to find one of the things I wanted to get for Ken for Christmas. Today or tomorrow I need to hit JCPenney and see if I can find what he’s looking for, as I saw what I needed in their latest catalog. Yesterday, I took Ken’s Mom to The Somerset Collection in Troy and we hit several stores and were lucky enough to get a great parking spot right outside of Macy’s. There Ken’s Mom insisted that I pick out my Christmas present so I did, Clinique Moisturizer for men and Clinique facial soap. It’s been a long time since I used either one because they are priced in the more expensive side. But hey, she got from me what she wanted so she thought it only be fair. Okay, you don’t have to pull my arm twice. :P

On Saturday I stopped at Bordines and picked up a pointsetta plant for both Ken’s Mom and us. These things are huge, I didn’t really realize it until I got it in our house and put it on the table in front of the couch. Ken’s Mom seemed to like hers, she should considering how much it cost. But I wanted her to have one so I got her one two.

Today will be catching up on things online and finish my back-up that I didn’t get finished. I will tan and I will be watching my brothers Rott, named Zeus for the next week. Which means three trips a day to my brothers, thankfully he just lives down the road. He’s off to visit my sister and her family in Virginia this week for Thanksgiving. We need to hit the store and get items for Thanksgiving but hopefully we can get that done today or tomorrow, Ken has a busy agenda for today as I do.

I hope EVERYONE has a great weekend and thanks for standing by me and empathizing with my problems. It takes special people to share what you all shared with me and I greatly appreciate it. :)

MadMan In The Box

First off, I realize that my previous post came across as negative and borderline rant. Since none of you have actually seen me in a rant I use the term loosely. If what I had to say bothered some that wasn’t the intent but since it’s my blog – I will post the way I like and in the mindset I was in I’m surprised I didn’t go into a bull blown rant. I was in a angry, negative place – would you rather me post be negative and rant in your comment section on your blog? Not likely, I try to keep it to myself and every once in a while it comes out and that makes me human just like everyone else.

It’s been a trying week, watching the news and getting stuff done around the house as we all know that things come up to distract us and take us away from our comfort spots here on Live Spaces. I got my desk somewhat cleared off, still need to go over it with some Mr. Clean or Formula 409. I need to run my laptop and get any updates that it needs. I rarely use the thing so I like to try and keep it current as much as possible as I never know when I’ll be going on a road trip to heaven knows where and that I have a computer with me. Today is back-up day. I’m backing up all my files on my slave drive to my external HDD so that I don’t loose everything like Ken did on his C: drive a couple weeks ago when his computer caught several trojans. Better safe then sorry!!! So why not take some time this weekend or next week to update and back-up your systems!!!

I would like to send my deepest appreciation to those who commented on my last post. I was in a bad place in my head which comes along every now and then. What does one expect out of a bipolar with chronic pain who’s tired of dealing with health problems on top of everything else that has been going on around here. I would never take my attitude to your blog unless it was warranted, the lack of comments sends a clear signal that people didn’t care for what I had to say, I won’t delete the post because it’s part of who I am. Mistakes and hot-headedness included.

I trust everyone has a fantastic weekend and hope all are doing well.  :)

Make It Readable

Make It Readable

Please give this blog entry a good read, I totally understand where Greg is coming from when he discusses the topic of "Make It Readable". Trust me, you'll want to read this and let it soak in. :)

Peace -

Stephen

I have had to opportunity of visiting with many “Spaces” around the community!  Some are simple sites while other’s are more detailed and employ more graphics along with customization.  I know that me personally what keeps me going back to selected “Spaces” is both content and the ease of navigation throughout the site and the ability to read it!

Some people around the “Community” like to use all different types of fonts and of various sizes.  If you are looking for return “visitor’s” as I am then you will want to make your text legible and readable.  Much like the text you are reading now, it is what is commonly referred to as a true type font.  This ensures that my text is clear and legible.  I can’t tell you how many sites have variations of fonts that make it nearly impossible for me to read!  Although, they make look fancy and cute to you but think about whether or not your friend’s and visitor’s will be able to read it!.  While customizing your site you can select a theme for your “Spaces”themes.

When you select a theme the type of “Font” that will appear throughout your site will be pre-determined by the theme itself!  If you have chosen to provide a background or image for your site make sure that you change the font type that is clear and readable.

Most of us have set our “Spaces” up as supplemental way to communicate with our friend’s, family or the general population.  I like it when people come by and drop me comment’s on my blogs, photo’s or other element’s that I choose to incorporate into my site.  I in exchange do the same thing.  I frequent people’s pages to see what is new in their life and leave remarks based on what I have seen or read!

Too often times I have visited different sites and you can’t read the text because all you can see is the background.  This can be adjusted by clicking on the “Customize” button and then selecting “Advanced"" and clicking on the link for "Background Images" and then changing the transparency level of your image.  If you have a higher transparency level your text may be hard to read throughout your site.  Reduce the level and then you will have a more finished and refined look to your site.

I know with the inception of flashing graphics and things that go blink blink and flash flash....keep in mind that not everyone accesses the Internet via a high speed connection.  If someone is still utilizing a slower dial up connection it takes forever for these graphics to load onto their screen.  Try and keep it marginally simple.   A few graphics here and there are OK but don't overload it!  Keep in mind that the more graphics you use requires more bandwidth and that translates into slower Internet communication's.

Ok, back to the original topic of keeping it readable.....if you select a theme but don't like the background...you might want to keep the theme but customize the background with your own image.  This will keep the font type intact while giving you a more diverse look.

Some simple guidelines to follow.....

  • If you can't read it, chances are neither can your visitor's.

  • Try to use similar colors, contrasting colors can make reading very difficult

  • Ask your reader's for opinions and don't be afraid of criticism and suggestions...this will help you refine your space so that everyone will enjoy coming back to visit.

  • Experiment and refine until you have it tweaked to optimal performance

you will see me use the word "Experiment" quite frequently throughout my "Learning Tree" and "Clubhouse" post.  That is because "Spaces" is a learning experience and the only way to get it to peak personal customization is by experimenting.

There are items contained directly in your browser's that will allow you to change the size of text that will greatly enhance the size of it for easier reading, so there is no need to make text that is BIG!  Use a font that is most likely seen around the Internet and you will see for yourself that people will look forward to coming around more and more to share their thoughts with you!

Happy Blogging & Spaces Development

They aren't the best quality and I didn't edit them at all, nor did I bother cleaning it up nice and pretty so everyone would think I'm more anal about being clean and neat as my reputation would suggest. So here they are Kat - you can stop hounding me about the pictures now damnit. :)

And yes, I do have a lot of pens - just a little OCD mixed in with the bipolar. (Yes, you can laugh at that!)

Have a nice weekend everyone, and Happy Friday the 13th.

Personal Blogging Style

Your Blogging Type is Unique and Avant Garde

You're a bit ... unusual. And so is your blog.
You're impulsive, and you'll often post the first thing that pops in your head.
Completely uncensored, you blog tends to shock... even though that's not your intent.
You tend to change your blog often, experimenting with new designs and content.

What's Your Blogging Personality?

Thanks

Many thanks for those who responed, I will email the other blog address to those who wanted it.

Until then, I need to get my blog list up, and will try and do that in the next couple days when I can squeeze it in to what I have going on around the house and other computer stuff. ;)

PS - Why is our blog post area so damn small these days? Another change or is it just me?
